So, where is it?

The darling of Nevada, Las Vegas is nestled on the desert floor, surrounded by mountains but snug in the foothills of the Spring Mountains to the West. Nevada is a Western state in the USA surrounded by California to the west and Utah to the East.

What happens in Las Vegas doesn't always need to stay in Las Vegas, especially when it involves a fabulous wedding celebration set in the desert's dry, rocky landscape, dotted by the picturesque Spring Mountains. The century-old city may be covered in sand, but it is steeped in history, complete with mob-filled legends and Old Hollywood glamour—the perfect place for romance and adventure.

MANDALAY BAY

Welcome, Resortists! Here, you have your choice of THE Hotel (the all-suite tower boasting the ultimate in modern sophistication and style), Mandalay Bay's main tower (the pinnacle of casual elegance and comfort) and the Four Seasons rooms (an oasis of tranquility in a non-gaming environment). From Mandalay Bay Beach to the Shark Reef Aquarium, the Spa Mandalay to the House of Blues, Mix Lounge to the Shoppes at Mandalay Place, your dance card will be full morning, noon and night here. Contemporary, bespoke accommodations are yours, as well—but whether or not you sleep while here is up to you.

MT. CHARLESTON RESORT

High in the mountains of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is Mt. Charleston Resort, just 30 minutes outside the Las Vegas Strip yet a world away. With views of the surrounding Spring Mountains everywhere you go, you'll enjoy access to outdoor activities for every season. Hike or mountain bike, horseback ride, golf, ski or snowboard, then return to the resort for a meal at A Cut Above. Deluxe rooms or suites are complete with all the accoutrements and comforts of home. If you're searching for a destination wedding spot, The Resort on Mt. Charleston offers numerous locations to have the wedding of your dreams.

MGM

Right in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino rewards its guests with the ultimate trifecta: exciting nightlife, awesome entertainment and superb dining. Spend the day shopping in luxury, take a dip in the Wet Republic Ultra Pool and begin your evening with a meal at Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak—fine dining Top-Chef style. Then take your seat at Ka, the Cirque du Soleil masterpiece, test your inner crime solver at the new CSI: The Experience attraction, or take in a performance at the premiere Hollywood Theater or the Garden Arena. Your hotel room is a destination all its own with sleek, modern furnishings and inspired artwork. The MGM Grand is your gateway to a collection of wide-open possibilities in Las Vegas.

THE ARTISAN HOTEL

It's a little Goth, a little dark, a little mysterious. In fact, it's probably safe to say Frank Sinatra never stayed here. If you're looking for something boutique, fun, and out-of-the-ordinary, The Artisan is the place for you—and as many of your friends as you can gather. If you're coming to Vegas to get married, The Artisan Chapel and Wedding Garden are unforgettable locations. No matter what brings you here, enjoy farm-to-table fresh American cuisine at Mood Restaurant, a few drinks at the Ultralounge and a private poolside cabana underneath swaying palm trees on a hot Vegas night. Fridays and Saturdays are all about decadent excess; it'll take you the rest of the week to recover. And we mean that in the best possible way.

Jennifer Glatt: Virtuoso of Travel

I have a passion for new places, new adventures, and all things travel. In the last four years I've visited over 15 countries, not including the various islands, cays and international waters I've traversed to get to those places. I adore domestic travel, as well, and look forward to my next trip--wherever that may be!

Las Vegas might best be described as a multitude of sensory experiences. First of all, it's hot; we can get that one out of the way first. But while the late spring and summers are sweltering, the rest of the year is really quite pleasant. The low humidity is a welcome change, especially considering that makes for great hair days! The Entertainment Capital of the World does not disappoint, with concerts, performances of every genre and caliber available day and night. Hotels of the grandest scale cater to visitors and locals alike intent on soaking up the high-energy vibe the city offers. And world-class cuisine can be found in a plethora of places as renowned chefs offer their unique take on feeding the foodies who flock here. And there's more to Vegas than what you can find on the Strip... hiking in Red Rock Canyon, visiting the Hoover Dam or the nearby Grand Canyon are all easy day trips and great ways to work up an appetite for your evening out, no matter what you choose to do!

Featured Activities

Known as the Entertainment Capital of the World, Vegas is as notorious for its stellar selection of performers, culinary choices and high-end shopping as it is for its gambling and opportunities for 24/7 fun. Here, you can see a show, a musical, magicians and musicians, dine at restaurants opened by famous (and infamous) celebrity chefs, club like a VIP, party like a rock star, finish 18 holes at a world-renowned golf course, relax at a luxurious, pampering spa or shop 'til you drop.

Literally a destination hotspot, the city averages 300 days of sunshine per year and provides easy access to spectacular landmarks like the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. And let's not forget the city's glitzy—and well-deserved—reputation. You've heard the fantastical rumors and probably even seen a movie or two; you won't be disappointed.

Planning Ahead

As you plan your destination wedding, take time to thoroughly research the legal requirements to wed in your chosen destination.

Las Vegas requirements include: Both the bride and groom must at least 18 years old to be issued a marriage license in Clark County. Proof of age may be required. Both must appear at the Marriage License Bureau in the County Courthouse. In Clark County, blood tests are not required and there is no waiting period. Check out this link if you're getting married in Las Vegas: http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/Depts/clerk/Services/Pages/MarriageLicenses...

Also, be sure to bring the following:

  • Proof of age
  • Divorce papers, if relevant
  • Death certificate of deceased former spouse, if relevant

Other questions to consider:

  • Do we need witnesses for our ceremony?
  • What are the fees required?
